Instead of examining a book I examined a new website. The website is on Lester Beall, an influential American Graphic designer. The site is:
http://lesterbeall.com/index.shtml
Lesterbeall.com was put together by the estate of Lester Beall, and has just recently gone online.
Lester Beall was born in Kansas City on March 14, 1903.  He graduated from the University of Chicago in 1926. Lester Beall was never formally trained in Graphic Design. Beall opened his first studio in Chicago between 1927-1930. Later on he moved to New York. Beall became known for his innovative use of photo collage and bright colors. Beall was inspired by European constructivism. His posters are inspired by the angles of constructivism. Lester Beall is most well known for his series of posters for the United States Rural Electrification Administration.
This site on Lester Beall is very pleasing to look at and fairly easy to navigate. The site has a few form following function problems. I wanted to click the giant arrows found around the website. In addition, the scrolling menus scrolled far too fast for anyone to read them.
My main problem with the website is that it is not big enough. There were no large pictures on the website (all pictures were under two inches on my monitor). There were descriptions of the companies Beall worked with but no pictures of the work he’d done, or descriptions of the kind of work Beall had done for them.
Lesterbeall.com is a good beginning of a site, but it does not have enough information to truly be useful yet.
